Pollution Prevention and Control, North-East England

Project

Remediation Strategies were commissioned to assist an electronic components manufacturing facility in the North-East of England with the emergency preparedness and response aspects of an ISO 14001 accreditation process.

Workscope

Through numerous visits to site, we were able to gain an understanding of site operations and activities that could potentially give rise to a pollution incident. We then worked with site personnel to identify specific risk scenarios and to ensure that the appropriate equipment and knowledge was in place to minimise risks as far as reasonably possible.

Remediation Strategies were able to supply the relevant pollution and prevention equipment to the site and were able to provide site staff with training in the operation of the equipment.  Further training on action in the event of an incident was also provided and staff were made aware of potential nearby receptors that may be vulnerable in the event of a release.

Summary

Remediation Strategies have assisted an electronic component manufacturer with the emergency response and preparedness component of an ISO 14001 accreditation process. A combination of pollution prevention and control products and services were provided including pollution control equipment and spill response training.

Timeframe

Remediation Strategies were able to attend site within days of the initial call and to ensure all measures were in place prior to the date of the ISO 14001 pre-audit.
